研究生参加国际暑期交流班，是国际交流与合作的一个积极交流平台，可以显著提升我们研究生的国际化视野，对于这些未来学者、专家们的培养非常有益处。我们学部毕业的在伯克利、UIUC、卡耐基梅隆等学校的留学生多有参加此类国际暑期交流班的经历。例如，土木本科08级的赵拓同学，现在佐治亚理工攻读博士学位，2015年暑期参加了一个北欧的国际学习班，并在南美洲的国际合作伙伴处工作学习了几周。
另一方面，该类活动的参与，也在一定程度上表征了研究团队的国际化水平。大连理工大学建设国际知名大学的愿景，需要在很多方面向国际著名大学看齐，此即为一项。请各位老师能够足够重视，为学生们提供经费，创造参加此类活动的机会。学校方面也正在研究加大对此项工作的支持力度。
本次在结构健康监测领域的暑期交流学习班，每年举办一次，轮流在各个国家举办，今年在剑桥举办。届时将有国际知名学者分别为学生们授课。学员来自MIT、伯克利、剑桥、东大等各国大学。学部基本上每年都有团队派学生参加此次活动，对学生培养非常有帮助，将大大提高学生们的国际化视野。请各位老师踊跃参加。
The registration and payment deadline for APESS’16 is on the 22nd May 2016.
The Centre for Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC) is hosting the Asian-Pacific-Euro Summer School (APESS) on Smart Structures Technology in Cambridge from 24th June to 13th July 2016. Similar to previous Asian-Pacific Summer Schools (APSS), APESS’16 will be a three-week programme of coursework, lectures, laboratory exercises and non-academic activities, where the participants will learn about smart structures technologies and their application. APESS’16 is open to students currently enrolled in a civil engineering or related graduate programme, and post-doctoral researchers.
In this edition, participants will attend the lectures given by world-leading experts in Civil Engineering and Smart Structures Technology and will participate in an exciting laboratory project, where they will learn about the practical use of fibre-optic sensing and wireless sensor network technologies for monitoring infrastructure. The APESS’16 programme will also include non-academic activities to bring participants, lecturers, and staff together. Participants will be accommodated in single bedrooms (breakfast included) at Girton College, a world-class higher education institution within the University of Cambridge. Registration to APESS’16 also includes attendance to the International Conference on Smart Infrastructure and Construction (CSIC) and the 12th International Workshop on Advanced Smart Materials and Smart Structures Technology (ANCRiSST2016), which are taking place in Cambridge from 27th to 30th June 2016.
